SANTA CLARA COUNTY
CITIES ASSOCIATION

A unified voice
for the fifteen Cities of
Santa Clara County, California

decorative logoThe Santa Clara County Cities Association was formed in 1990 in order to represent the mutual interests of the diverse fifteen cities of Santa Clara County and to present a unified voice for the cities in dealing with other agencies, organizations and levels of government.

The Association was established through a joint powers agreement, and is funded exclusively by the fifteen cities. Each city appoints a city council member to the Board of Directors, which meets monthly. In its role as an advocate for the Santa Clara County cities, the group monitors legislative activities at the state and federal level through its Legislative Action Committee. In addition, the newly formed Joint Policy Collaborative works with business and industry leaders to provide a forum for issues of economic development.

Santa Clara County is the only county in California that has an organization where each city of the county has an equal voice on the Board of Directors. Through the Cities Association, city leaders get to know each other, share information, research policy concerns together, and work side by side on issues of mutual local interest. The Cities Association is a unique organization that promotes c ooperation among the cities and advocates for positive action to enhance the quality of life for the people of our county.
