November 2008 Meeting SummarY
Board of directors:
- In the
November 13, 2008 City Selection Committee meeting, two appointments to
Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD) were made: Yoriko Kishimoto,
- Received a report from the Recycling and Waste Reduction Commission (RWRC) on the 2009 Legislative Policies in that areas of housing, land use, environment and transportation integrated waste management. Steve Glickman led the discussion which focused on three of the twelve policies: (1) Expansion of Product Stewardship and Producer Responsibility, (2) Recycling and Composting Programs, and (3) One-time Use of Plastic Shopping Bags. - ABAG presentation by Christy Riviere focused on Carbon Dioxide Emission data. Presentation posted on the SCCCA website.
- Motion
second and unanimously passed for all 15 cities present resolutions in
support of actions that will eliminate waste caused by single-use plastic
bags. Resolutions in place to date
are from the cities of
- Elections were held. The 2009 SCCCA officers are: President – Kris Wang; 1st vice President – David Cases; 2nd Vice President – Kathleen King; director at Large – Otto Lee; Legislative Action Chair – Dan Furtado; Immediate past President – Al Pinheiro.
- Announcements:
- President Pinheiro reminded Board Members to mark their calendars for this year’s Holiday Party on Thursday, December 4. In these challenging economic times, it was suggested that attendees to this year’s holiday party bring non-perishable food items to the party which will be donated to an agency.
