· November 12, 2009, Bonnie Broderick presented on the Public Health Department’s (PHD’s) plan to submit grant applications to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in response to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009: Communities Putting Prevention to Work (CPPW). The PHD plans to submit 2 applications; one for tobacco prevention and control, and one for obesity, physical activity and nutrition. The board passed a motion to support the two grant applications with two Resolutions to be submitted along with the applications:

• September 10, 2009, Dave Anderson (City Manager, Saratoga) and Dan Rich (City Manager, Campbell) of the Santa Clara County Cities Managers Association (SCCCMA) presented a joint policy statement agreed upon by SCCCMA and San Mateo County/Cities Managers Association.  The statement addresses the issue of pension reform and rising retirement costs and recommends that all cities work together to reduce pension costs by adopting a two-tier system.  The SCCCA Board of Directors unanimously adopted the policy statement.

• Thursday, September 10, 2009, the SCCCA Board announced a new form to standardize the installation of photovoltaic systems (solar panels) to be used by all cities in Santa Clara County.
